Belgium, which is a member of the European Council for Nuclear Research (CERN), established in 1952 a research center on the uses of nuclear energy. This center is entrusted with the formation of the atomic energy experts needed by the country; available for this task are an experimental uranium-graphite reactor which went into operation in May this year, and special laboratories built near here to studi the applications of atomic energy in such fields as chemistry, metallurgy, physics, electronics and special technology, medicine and biology.

This photo shows construction workers erecting one of the buildings of the Belgian Research Center on the Uses of Nuclear Energy. The Center is located near the town of Mol.
