The Committee on Periodic Reports, which was set up last year by the Commission on Human Rights to consider reports on the progress made in the protection of human rights, opened a five- day session at United Nations Headquarters this morning.
Here is a view of the conference room during the meeting. Seated at centre, at the desk at right is Mr. Felix Ermacora (Austria), who was elected as Chairman and Rapporteur of the Committee. Seated beside him are Mr. Egon Schwelb, Deputy Director of the UN Division of Human Rights, and Mrs. Margaret E. Bruce, Committee Secretary.
