The Comptroller's Office was established in 1946 as a result of a name change in the Executive Secretary's Office. The first Comptroller was Ross B. Willis.
In 1962, Ross B. Willis became Vice-President of the University (later Vice-President, Administration and Finance) while R.R. Glover became the new Comptroller at the same time.

Scope and content
Series consists of financial and administrative correspondence kept by the Office of the Comptroller. Major subjects relate to budgets, research grants, gifts, properties, capital and operational expenditures. Series also includes some correspondence filed on behalf of the Vice-President Ross B. Willis (after 1962). A few documents were inherited from predecessor Executive Secretary W.J. Brown and filed in this series.
