R125/4/3269/1855 Cost of Allied Troops of Occupation in Danzig - Sir Reginald Tower (Report No 4) - Transmits copy of despatch (No.10) to the Conference of Ambassadors enclosing letter from Herr Sahm who contends that as the City of Danzig has established a sufficient body of Constabulary to preserve peace and order, and that as the troops of occupation are not destined for Danzig specially but serve as a base for Plebiscite areas and Memel, the City of Danzig is not obliged to bear cost of these troops, more especially as the terms of the Peace Treaty do not explicitly provide that the cost of occupation should fall on the city.
