Biographical history
Dr. Walter Hoare Moorhouse was born in 1842 and begin his medical career by apprenticing under Dr. Alexander Graham in the village of Newbury, Ontario. He then went on to study at Trinity Medical School and graduated from the University of Toronto with an M.B. in 1874. He began his own practice in London in 1875 and was elected President of the Canadian Medical Association in 1902. Moorhouse became the Chair of Normal and Pathological Histology when the Medical School at Western opened in 1882 and was Professor of Therapeutics from 1885 to 1887 before becoming Professor Emeritus in 1907. Additionally, he was Dean of the Medical Faculty from 1892 to 1907 and Vice-Chancellor of Western University from 1900-1908. Dr. Moorhouse died in 1921.
