To commemorate the Human Rigts Day this year, on the 16th anniversary of the adoption by the General Assembly of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, an international concert was held in the Assembly Hall at UN Headquarters. The President of the 19th session of the General Assembly , Alex Quaison-Sackey of Ghana, delivered a commemorative message. The Preamble to the Human Rights Declaration was narrated by Sir John Gielgud, British actor-director. The artists who performed were: Eileen Farrell, American dramatic soprano; Jaime Laredo, Bolivian violinist; a group of Jamaican singers, the "Frats Quintet", (Winston H. White, Sidney H. Clarke, Granville A. Lindo, Wilfred E. Warner and R. Henry Richards); and Tadeusz Zmudzinski, Polish pianist. The concert also featured "Music and Dances f India", dancers Bali Ram, Neena Gulati, Maya Kulkarni, Bihari Sharma, and Thambal Yaima and instrumentalist S. Ramanathan.
