The protection of workers against radiation to which they might be exposed in the industrial use of X-rays or radioactive substances was the subject for study by a group of experts meeting at the International Labour Organisation's (ILO) Headquarters in Geneva from 25 November to 11 December 1957. In completing their work, the experts stressed the imperative need for adequate education of the workers in the field of radiation protection.
This photograph shows industrial X-ray installation. The control panel is situated behind a wall of barium bricks providing the necessary protection of the operator against radiation.
