An International Atomic energy Agency expert, Mr. Norman Veall (United Kingdom), has been working in bangkok helping Thai medical research teams establish procedures in the use of radioisotopes and radioactives tracer techniques. the request for an expert was initiated by the Thai Atomic Energy Commission for Peace through the UN technical Assistance Board to the IAEA.

Radio-active tracers have proved very valuable in determing both structure and metabolism of biologically important substances such as venoms, drugs, hormones, etc. In one of the pilot experiments carried out, radiocarbon compounds are fed to a snake and the radio-activity count of the extracted snake venom is subsequently checked. Here, Mr. Veall, the IAEA expert, is making a preliminary measurement of the radioactivity of the venom.
