An International Atomic energy Agency expert, Mr. Norman Veall (United Kingdom), has been working in bangkok helping Thai medical research teams establish procedures in the use of radioisotopes and radioactives tracer techniques. the request for an expert was initiated by the Thai Atomic Energy Commission for Peace through the UN technical Assistance Board to the IAEA.
This photograph shows radioactive meat being fed to a snake by technicians of the Pasteur Institute. this is part of a pilot experiment in which the radioactivity count of extracted snake venom will later be checked. This snake is kept at the institute for work on the production of anti-venom serums. Radioactive tracers have proved very valuable in determining both structure and metabolism of biologically important substances such as venoms, drugs, hormones, etc.
