            The UN Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities, today opened its 12th session at United Nations Headquarters.
            Seen here around the conference table (front row only, left to right) are: Mr. John P. Humphrey, Director of Un Division of Human Rights; Mr. José d'Ingles (Philippines), who was elected Chairman of the session at this meeting; Mr. Edward Lawson, Chief of the Section on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities, who acted as Committee Secretary; Mr. Jacobo Schaulsohn (Chile); Mr. Vieno Voitto Saario (Finland), who was elected Rapporteur; and Professor Enrique Rodriguez Fabregat (Uruguay).

            The UN Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities, which convened yesterday for its 12th session, this afternoon continued consideration of the report by Dr. Arcot Krishaswani, of India, on discrimination in religious rights and practices.
            Here, the officers of the Sub-Commission are seen exchanging views shortly before the meeting got under way. From the left are: Dr. Arcot Krishnaswami (India), Vice-Chairman; Mr. Jose d'Ingles (Philippines), Chairman; and Mr. Vieno Voitto saario (Finland), Rapporteur. In addition to being Vice-Chairman of this session, in 1956, Dr. Krishnaswami was appointed by the sub-Commission as special rapporteur for the study of discrimination in the matter of religious rights and practices.
