            Bulgaria has become the first party to Convention on Elimination of Racial Discrimination. The Permanent Representative of Bulgaria, Milko Tarabanov, today deposited the instrument of ratification of the Convention with the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs.
            Mr. Tarabanov is seen giving the instrument of ratification to C.A. Stavropoulos, Under-Secretary, Office of the Legal Counsel, Office of Legal Affairs.

            Bolivia signed today the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Dicrimination. The Convention, adopted by the General Assembly on 21 December 1965 , binds States which become Parties to condemn "racial discrimination and undertake to pursue, by all appropriate means and without delay, a policy of eliminating racial discrimination in all its forms and promoting understanding among races." The Parties also commit themselves to taking "special and concrete measures to ensure the adequate development and protection of certain racial groups or individuals belonging to them". The Convention provides for the establishment of machinery to oversee the implementation of its provisions.

            The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Dicrimination, whichh was opened for signature on 7 march 1966, was signe dtoday by Sangye Penjor, Permanent Representative of Bhutan to the UN. The Convention was adopted by the General Assembly on 21 December 1965 and came into force on 4 January 1969. Under the Convention, States parties condemn "racial discrimination and undertake to pursue, by all appropriate means and without delay, a policy of eliminating racial discrimination in all its forms and promoting understanding among races." A Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination has been established under the Convention to oversee the implementation of its provisions.

            Barbados has become the 60th country to sign the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Dicrimination. Under the Convention, adopted by the General Assembly on 21 December 1965 (Resolution 2106 (XX)), States which become parties "condemn racial discrimination and undertake to pursue, by all appropriate means and without delay, a policy of eliminating racial discrimination in all its forms and promoting understanding among races." A Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination has been established under the Convention to oversee the implementation of its provisions.
