Ecuador has accepted a procedure for handling communications from persons and groups under its juridiction who claim to be victims of a violation of any of the rights set forth in the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. In a declaration deposited with Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim today, Ecuador recognized the competence of the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination to receive and consider such communications. Ecuador, which acceded to the Convention on 22 September 1966, is the sixth State Party to accept the procedure so far. The others are the Netherlands, Sweden, Uruguay, Costa Rica and Norway.
