Scope and content
The Radioisotope Production Unit at the Philippine Atomic Research Centre in Quezon City has been operating since 1965 and it is meeting increasing demands for a wide variety of radioisotopes, particularly for use in medicine. Since 1966, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as Executing Agency, has provided continuing assistance to the Centre to increase production of phosphorus-32 and a number of other isotopes to meet local demands and is extending the services of an IAEA expert so that he may assist in work on related problems such as colloidal phosphorus-32 chromic phosphate particle size determination improvement of the iodine-131 unit, and the initiation of work on mercury-203, mercury-labelled compounds and selenium-75.
