Scope and content
The 15-member United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation opened a three-week session today, at UN Headquarters, to complete its 1962 comprehensive report to the general Assembly. The report will consist of a main text and of a number of technical annexes, dealing with specific biological and physical aspects of radiation problems, which will be discussed by groups of delegates named by the Scientific Committee. These groups will deal with the primary effects of radiation on living cells, effects on exposed organisms, hereditary effects, and with sources of radiation (natural and man-made).
