The Second United Nations International Conference on the Peaceful Uses of Atomic energy is now being held in the Palais des Nations, Geneva (September 1-13). Participating in the Conference are 69 countries and 9 UN Specialized Agencies represented by some 5000 scientists and observers exchanging information on the peaceful uses of atomic energy.
Here, Dr. Homi Bhabha (India), one of the six Vice-Presidents of the Conference, is seen as he delivered a lecture on the role of nuclear power in under-developed countries. Dr. Bhabha, Chairman of the Indian Atomic energy Commission since 1948, was the President of the first Conference on Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy which met in Geneva in 1955.
