The Division of Human Rights, as part of the United Nations Secretariat, served the organs and agencies of the United Nations on questions of human rights. In addition, the Division had the ongoing task of handling all communication from non-governmental organizations and individuals concerning human rights. These records contain correspondence between the Division and UN organs and agencies, members of the Human Rights Committee, Specialized Agencies, the Council of Europe, governments, NGOs and individuals.
