In accordance with ECOSOC resolutions 277 (X) of 1950 and 474 A (XV) of 1953 communications alleging infringements of trade union rights submitted to the United Nations by governments, trade unions and employers' organizations against a State which is a member of the International Labour Organization were forwarded by the Division of Human Rights to the ILO and to the governments of the countries involved. Communications alleging that the life of an individual was is jeopardy were brought to the attention of the Secretary-General. A brief indication of the substance of the communication was included in the confidential list of communications presented to the Commission on Human Rights.
