            The Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities continued its consideration of a study of discrimination against persons exercising their right to leave any country, including their own, and to return to their country.

            The Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities continued its consideration of a study of discrimination against persons exercising their right to leave any country, including their own, and to return to their country.

            The experts from Italy and the United Kingdom this morning submitted jointly to the Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities a draft preamble to a proposed international convention on the elimination of all forms of racial discrimination. Statements in the general debate on a proposed convention were made by the experts from the Philippines, Poland, Austria, USSR, United States, India, and France, and by an observer from the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions.

            The United Nations Sub-Commission on the Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities opened its eighteenth session this morning at United Nations Headquarters. The Sub-Commission elected its officers and adopted its agenda. The session will end on 31 January.

            The Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities of the UN Commission on Human Rigts today opened its twentieth session at the Palais des Nations, Geneva. The Sub-Commission elected Pierre Juvigny (France), Chairman of the current session and Mr. N. Pai (India) and Mrs. Phoebe Asiyo (Kenya) Vice-Chairman and Rapporteur respectively. The Sub-Commission also adopted a 13-point agenda. Experts from eighteen countries, participating in their personal capacities are attending the present session, which is expected to last for two weeks. Also present are the representatives and observers of a number of UN specialized agencies, inter-governmental and non-governmental organizations.
