The Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities of the UN Commission on Human Rigts today opened its twentieth session at the Palais des Nations, Geneva. The Sub-Commission elected Pierre Juvigny (France), Chairman of the current session and Mr. N. Pai (India) and Mrs. Phoebe Asiyo (Kenya) Vice-Chairman and Rapporteur respectively.

The Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities returned this morning to the question of equality in the administration of justice, on which a study has been undertaken by a Special rapporteur, Mohammed A. Abu Rannat (Sudan).

The United Nations Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities opened its fortieth session at Geneva on 8 August. The Sub-Commission elected by acclamation Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare, expert from India, as its Chairman.
