The Commissionon Human Rights began its forty-second session at the Palais des Nations, Geneva, on 3 February. Review of United Nations efforts to promote world-wide respect for the human rights and fundamental freedoms of the individual will once again be the main focus of the regular annual session of the Commission, which is the principal body of the United Nations concerned with the protection of human rights.
