Dr. Humberto Fernandez Moran (center profile), Director of Venezuelan Nuclear Research Centre, is shown here explaining to students the operation of the ultramicrotons, shown in the foreground, an instrument which facilitates electromicroscopic examination of biological tissues, bones, crystals and even hard metals. Dr Moran has been lecturing at Universities and bringing students to inspect the installations at the Research Centre which now has some 70 laboratories. It is expected that a nuclear reactor will be in operation at the centre by the middle of 1958
