Watt and Crane Architects was an architectural firm established by founding partners Charles Howard Crane and John MacLeod Watt in 1908. The firm ran jointly out of Windsor, ON and Detroit, MI, with the majority of their clients coming from in and around Southwestern Ontario and the Greater Detroit Area. The firm was dissolved on Febraury 4, 1910 by mutual agreement of both parties. Upon its dissolution, Crane took over the American side of operations and Watt subsumed the Canadian side. Watt and Crane's First Presbyterian Church in Walkerville (now the All Nations Full Gospel Church) has since been added to the Windsor Municipal Heritage Register.
Historique de la conservation
Material came to Western Archives as a donation from Museum London in 2013. The materials were previously donated to Museum London (then the London Regional Art & Historical Museums) in 1991 by Edward H. Hagarty, Architects which had inherited the records from previous interations of the firm.
Portée et contenu
Fonds consists of architectural drawings created by Watt and Crane Architects during the tenure of their firm. The architectural drawings are primarily of private residences, commercial projects, building alterations, and apartment buildings in Southwestern Ontario or the Greater Detroit Area. Architectural drawings include floor plans, architectural elevations, and section details, among others. In addition, this fonds contains drawings done by C. Howard Crane Architect that were physically retained by Watt and Crane, and its successive iterations, after the dissolution of the firm.

Fonds came to Western Archives with Watt and Crane architectural drawings interfiled among the drawings of other firms. Fonds was subsequently rearranged according to order number.
