Biographical history

Earle Clare Shelley (1905-1990) was a graduate of Waterloo College (now Wilfrid Laurier University) in Waterloo, Ontario, and a professor, high school teacher, poet, and author. Born in Bridgeport, Ontario, Shelley attended high school at Waterloo College School from 1920-1924. He received his BA from Waterloo College in 1928, and was head of the French Department at Waterloo College from 1928-1931. Shelley graduated from the College of Education at the University of Toronto in 1932 and taught high school for 33 years. He served with the Canadian Army from 1939-1946. He wrote several books of poetry, and also compiled a two-volume French grammar dictionary.
