Scope note(s)

  • Post-colonization and prior to 1870, the Hudson's Bay Company governed the West, which included Fort Edmonton (established in 1754). Education of children in the Northwest Territories was provided by church missions and private religious schools. In 1881, a public school was built in the Edmonton settlement. In 1882, Edmonton became part of the District of Alberta, one of the four districts of the Northwest Territories. In 1883, the Edmonton riding of the North-West Legislative Assembly was established through a royal proclamation. In 1905, the province of Alberta was established, and the district continued as Edmonton (Alberta).

Item is a report by Mrs. A. Fester, Coordinator of Work Experience Education. It examines the Work Experience Program as it has existed since September 1970. It presents problems and recommendations. It also describes the program and states the number of students participating in each subject area by school.

Item is a log of items lent by Edmonton Public Schools Teacher's Lending Library and is signed by Librarian Bertha McNaught. A list of books and magazines which make up the Teachers' Professional Library is included. It records the lending of the History of Music, maps, and the location of Travelling Libraries within the school system. The Travelling Libraries were designated as Primary, High School, Manual Training and Household Economics. Also included is a 1928 Registration of Speakers in High Schools.

Item is a cerlox-bound booklet prepared by the Elementary Curriculum Sub-Committee of the Edmonton Public School Local A.T.A. in co-operation with Edmonton Public Schools. Item is a report prepared for the Edmonton Public School Board by the Advisory Committee on Education of the Gifted. Item also includes an accompanying letter from the Deputy Superintendent of Schools.
