Elementary Math A - F

Item consists of six guides from the Elementary Mathematics Program of Edmonton Public Schools which are labeled A through F. The program materials were designed to assist teachers in the use of a text and activity approach in the teaching of Grade I - VI mathematics. The program was developed, in part, by Edmonton Public Schools’ teachers.

Series consists of files created by A. George Bayly, which include correspondence, memoranda, notices and general information to and from Bayly. Most material relates to Elementary curriculum, curriculum development, testing and reading. Bayly’s titles for this period were as follows: Elementary Supervisor or Supervisor, Elementary Education (1946-47, 1947-48), Director of Elementary Education (1948-49 to Oct 1955), and Assistant Superintendent, Elementary Education (beginning 01 Oct 1955).

Happy Birthday Canada

Item is a souvenir booklet for children in Grades I-III in Edmonton Public Schools and commemorates Canada’s Centennial. It provides historical highlights from 1867 to 1967 with an emphasis on Edmonton. It was designed and printed by the Jasper Place Composite High School Graphic Arts Classes.

H. A. Gray Junior High School Scrapbook

Item consists of five booklets of Transfer Slips. The Transfer Slips list students transferring out of H. A. Gray to other schools. Each slip includes the date, the student's name, age, grade, address and the school to which the student is transferring. The number of absent days is included and, inconsistently, so is the student's new address.

A Multiple Discriminant Analysis of Personality Dimensions Associated with Subject Preferences of Fifth Grade Pupils / Majorie Hawka

Item is a Master’s Thesis submitted to the University of Washington. It determines differences in the personality dimensions of pupils grouped according to their most and least preferred school subjects. Grade V students from fifteen classes in Edmonton Public Schools were studied.

Item consists of worksheets made by Edmonton Public Schools and completed by Elementary Principals. Worksheets requested: space availability for Early Education and Inner City School Programs, ideas to create attractive schools and issues to be addressed, specifically staffing. Associate Superintendent Educational Administration, Dr. Hohol, directed the Task Force. Participating schools were: Central, Delton, Donald Ross, Eastwood, McCauley, McDougall, North Edmonton, Norwood, Oliver, Parkdale, Riverdale, Rutherford, and Alex Taylor.

Item is a Master’s Thesis. The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of Movement Education and Traditional Physical Education on the kinesthetic perception of elementary school children, and to compare the kinesthetic perception of boys and girls in the selected age groups. The test subjects were students within Edmonton Public Schools.
