School Based Budget : Pilot Project Files

These files were created by Alan E. Parry, System Planner, whose position reported to the Superintendent & Secretary Treasurer at the time of the pilot project. Series consists of files pertaining to the development of budget decentralizing known as School Based Budget. The files and responsibility for School Based Budget moved with Parry when he transferred to Associate Superintendent Planning & Development Services in 1979-80. By 1980-81 School Based Budget was implemented district-wide.

The Worth Report

It is divided into Financial Planning Information, Budget Document, School Organization and Operation, and Staffing. Resource allocation falls under Financial Planning Information. It also includes sections entitled Underlying Considerations and Special Emphases for 1981-82. - Transferred to Archives and Museum from the Centre for Education in Feb 1985.

People, Patterns, Progress : Educational Development in the Edmonton Public Schools 1968-1971

Item consists of four 1970-71 Edmonton School District No. 7 Annual Reports: two hard cover, two coil-bound, contain identical information. Reports outline: Edmonton Public Schools philosophy, educational accomplishments, goals, and principals' perspective, summary of 1970-71 activities of the main Divisions. Created to demonstrate accountability to the Provincial Government Education department in accordance with the School Act.

Focus on Change : People, Commitment, Results : Educational Development in the Edmonton Public Schools 1968-1971

Item consists of two identical reports. They include the philosophy, educational accomplishments, and future goals of Edmonton Public Schools. They also include a ranking of goals by principals and a summary of 1970-71 activities and accomplishments. The final draft of this report became the 1970-71 Annual Report.

Reports of the Department of Education on High Schools within Edmonton School District No. 7

Series consists of reports produced by teams of school inspectors visiting Edmonton Public High Schools. Inspectors comment on and critique the school’s philosophies, administration, programs, counseling services, library services, subject areas, and the physical plant. The report of McNally School only addresses the Biology Department and the Library Services.

Department of Research and Evaluation Annual Report

Item is the Annual Report of the Department of Research and Evaluation in the form of a memorandum to Superintendent M. A. Strembitsky from Assistant Superintendent, Research and Evaluation, Dr. H. Mosychuk. It outlines the functions of the department and lists research and evaluation projects underway during the 1975-76 school year. Attached is a book entitled, Directory of Education Studies in Canada, 1974-75.

Sinking Fund Trustees Committee Minutes

Series consists of the minutes from the Sinking Fund Committee, made up of trustees of Edmonton Public Schools. The committee met for the purpose of purchasing and selling bonds and securities to build up the sinking fund and pay off the debenture debt. The committee ended on 07 Jan 1947 when the debenture debt was paid off.

Series consists of the minutes from the Property Committee, which was made up of Edmonton Public Schools Trustees with School Board officials and representatives present. The committee was concerned with Edmonton Public Schools sites and addressed issues around utilities, supplies, maintenance, caretaking staff, the use of schools by outside groups, and the renovating and selling of sites.

Sub-Conference Negotiating Committee Minutes

Series consists of minutes from committees whose function was to negotiate contracts, agreements and procedures with employee unions. The committees were made up of Edmonton Public Schools Trustees, School Board officials and representatives. From 11 Feb 1961 to 12 Sep 1968 the committee was called the Sub-Conference Negotiating Committee. From 20 Nov 1968 to 13 Nov 1972 a number of different committees with different members were involved.

Series consists of minutes from a committee made up of Trustees, School Board Officials and representatives. Throughout its history, the committee was called The Management Committee; The Management and Health Committee; The Management, Health and Discipline Committee; and The Management and Discipline Committee. The committee addressed staff appointments, dismissals and salaries; new courses and programs; new schools; student discipline; student health issues; and the organization of programs such as Kindergarten.

Item consists of the minutes of the Fine Arts and Library Committee, made up of Edmonton Public Schools Trustees and School Board Officials. The Chairman was Trustee H. Sinclair and the secretary was T.W. Meen.
