    Scope and content

Series documents, in varying levels of detail, a wide range of activities associated with several summer and winter Olympic Games, from the submission of bids and proposals, through their review and approval, to the actual planning, conduct and evaluation of the events. It consists of memoranda and correspondence; organizing committee and mission reports; speeches; communications, media coverage and press releases; accreditation information; event guides and results; opening and other official ceremonies and medal presentations; and promotional material. Also includes records relating to various local issues, including political concerns. Most appear to have originated with or were received under the auspices of the IOC.
Additional materials on Canada's involvement in the games are located in Series 2 Canadian Olympic Association (COA). Additional materials also located in Series 3 International Olympic Committee (IOC).
