    Scope and content

    Series documents the personal involvement of James Worrall in a wide range of Olympic and related sports events and organizations, his interaction with his peers, and the recognition that has been accorded him by many of these organizations. It comprises extensive personal correspondence with many key individuals involved in the Olympic movement at the national and international level, including Sidney A. Dawes, Bruce Kidd, Richard Pound, Frank Shaughnessy, and Jan Staubo, and professional correspondence with private sports foundations, sporting bodies and government organizations. Also included are interviews, presentations, and speeches given by Worrall as an IOC representative, president of the COA, and as an Olympian; accomplishments during his high school and university track and field career and participation in the 1934 British Empire Games and the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin; and materials from conferences, symposia, and professional membership in associations, committees, and societies relating to the Olympics, various sports, and international relations. Series also includes extensive reference material collected by Worrall over the course of his career on a variety of national and international topics and interests, such as research inquiries and personal notes on topics including: boycotts, sport administration and marketing, ethics in sport, women in sports, persons with disabilities in sports, drug testing and sport doping, and violence in sports. There are also greeting cards, invitations to events, and notes of appreciation; photo albums and photographs; awards and honours and associated congratulatory letters; and information on the 1936 Olympic Reunion and the James Worrall Gala.

        OVERSIZE items (Dali print and Flagbearer Award) are located at: 11X A-09-05-03-01 or the right side of the shelf. The items on the left side of shelf can be returned to ICOS - exhibit, Hamilton certificate, and Berlin certificate.; Sub-series 1.9, 1.10, 1.11 1936 Olympic Games, high-school track and field, and Empire Games items were kept in plastic bags amongst other Series 1 items such as the scrapbook, greeting cards, and photo albums. The 1936 Olympic items in Series 6 were amongst other Olympic items, hence the separation.
