Third year visual arts student, Lynda Cooper displays artwork that earned her $3500 prize money as winner of the fifth Olympic coin design contest. Cooper, a cartoonist for the student paper, The Gazette, had never even intended to compete in the contest. She received an entry kit after a friend entered her name in a contest to design the Olympic coins for the 1976 Montreal games. Even so, she was still reluctant to waste money on stamps to return her entry for judging but finally mailed the work only hours before the November 30 deadline.
