Following a successful bid by a London led consortium for the 2001 Summer Canada Games Western’s administration decided that an upgrade to the JW Stadium was not practical. With the support of private donors, government grants and its own resources the TD Waterhouse Stadium was built to the south on the Huron Flats in time for the opening of the games. The Little stadium remained in use for another year for community events before demolition to make room for the new Health Sciences Building.
