To meet the needs of increasing enrolment following WWII a cafeteria was built near the present day Laurene O Patterson Building. Constructed of prefab huts purchased from the defunct air base at Fingal near St Thomas, it became known as Fingal Hall. The cafeteria was eventually replaced in 1955 by facilities in the new Somerville House complex. Fingal Hall was sold and recycled. Part was incorporated into a new church while an enterprising Dutch builder used the reclaimed lumber from the rest to construct about a dozen houses in the city.
