Scope and content
The University has authorized many souvenirs over the years including cups, mugs, bookends and pens, to name a few, but only two commemorative plates. The first was to mark Western’s Jubilee in 1938. Professor W. Tamblyn also marked the occasion with the publication of a short history of Western entitled, "These Past Sixty Years". In 1978 the plate was reissued as a centennial memento and it too was accompanied by a book, "Western’s First Century", authored by history professor John Gwynne-Timothy.
