Scope and content

In the summer of 1988 biology student Robert Garland received support from the Student Council to look at the feasibility of starting an emergency response team. (ERT) The ERT was formed in 1989 with a 26-member team sponsored by the St John Ambulance. Of the 200 students who applied that first year only 40 were accepted into the program for certification. Today the group operates as SERT (Student Emergency Response Team) with about 50 certified volunteers. Pictured are some of the team members from 1990.
