Law enforcement at Western began to change following the rapid expansion of the campus during the 1960’s and 70’s. The former ‘security force’ was enlarged and upgraded to reflect its new role on campus. Members received advanced training attending the Ontario Police College in Aylmer and various seminars and conferences. The old wording on patrol cars was upgraded to 'Police' reflecting the fact that UWO constables had similar authority to those of London police in the city. Constable Steve Woods models the new uniform with shoulder patches featuring the UWO crest and logo.
