The McIntyre Works of Ingersoll built a decompression chamber that was installed in the basement of the South Street Medical School. Medical scientists used the apparatus to study the effects on pilots flying at high altitude. Research was coordinated through the Banting Institute in Ottawa under the direction of George Edward Hall. Bill Bending is at the controls.
