In 1956 ECOSOC Resolution 624 B (XXII) called upon member states and specialized agencies to transmit to the Secretariat every three years a report on human rights. In 1961 the Commission on Human Rights adopted a resolution establishing a Committee on Periodic Reports on Human Rights in order to examine the summaries before each session of the Commission. The records in this file consist of correspondence within the Secretariat concerning these reports as well as several copies of Summary Records relating to periodic reporting on human rights.
