Item is a set of 24 flashcards. Each flashcard has a short nursery rhyme with a coloured illustration depicting the nursery rhyme. Questions about the nursery rhyme and accompanying illustration are on verso. Nursery rhymes were used as a literature resource to teach primary reading to students.

The fonds consists of correspondence, press releases, brochures, and programs pertaining to Strembitsky's career as Superintendent of Edmonton Public Schools. Includes correspondence pertaining to his nomination for an honorary Ph.D. from the University of Alberta, his appointment as an adjunct professor, and a videotape regarding his resignation from Edmonton Public Schools in 1994. Michael A. Strembitsky was Acting Superintendent of Edmonton Public Schools from Aug-Dec 1972, and Superintendent from 1973 until his resignation in 1994.

Series contains files created by the Superintendent's office documenting EPS administration. The files include correspondence, memoranda, copies of board minutes, blueprints, plans, and other material reflecting daily operations. The series covers a number of subjects including matters of curriculum, schools, associations, contract negotiations, planning, government departments, enrolments, teachers, the hiring of personnel, and school construction. Integrity of original filing system maintained.

Item originated in Bennett School and consists of a general list of supplies to be handed out, a tally of supplies given to individual pupils in Grades II, III and IV in September 1915, and the names of the students who received primers in January 1915.

Administration Files of Strathcona School District No. 216

Series reflects administrative activities of Strathcona School District No. 216. Although chiefly financial and staffing issues, opening of new schools, amalgamation with Edmonton School District No. 7, Inspector's Reports, correspondence with University of Alberta, Association of School Trustees of Alberta and Department of Education is also included. Of note is a letter from Lieutenant Governor Bulyea regarding the opening of Strathcona Collegiate Institute. Compiled by the Secretary-Treasurer, files are arranged chronologically. Correspondence of a related subject often glued together. The top document reflects the chronological date within the file but often much earlier documents are attached.

Administration Files : Religious Instruction

Item pertains to religious instruction in schools and, specifically, Bible readings. The file includes the document Bible Readings in Edmonton Public Schools, Revised Copy. It also includes the Report of Committee Appointed to Select a List of Bible Readings. Item also contains inquiries from other school boards, parent concerns and evaluations by teachers. Included are letters from the Religious Tract Society and a copy of a report on the learning of the Ten Commandments in state schools in the British Empire.

Department of Education High School Inspection

Item contains a synopsis of the follow-up meeting held in response to the eight reports presented to Edmonton Public Schools by the Department of Education High School Inspection Team. A memorandum from the EPS Special Education Branch suggesting follow-up investigations, specifically at W. P. Wagner School, is also included.

Educational Planning by the Systems Approach : EPSA / Edmonton Public Schools

Item is a progress report for a project, developed by Edmonton Public Schools Department of Research, Development and Information, under the Provincial Government’s Innovative Project Fund. The project was to develop a planning model for a decision-making process that would relate and create accountability for educational objectives to allocated resources. The project was intended to run from 1971-1975, but at the 27 Nov 1973 Board meeting a motion was adopted to terminate it on 31 Dec 1973.
