James Worrall Fonds
AFC371 · Fonds · 1920-2011

The fonds consists of extensive personal and professional correspondence, memoranda, committee agendas and minutes, official reports, subject files, various other organizational records and associated reference material and ephemera documenting much of James Worrall's lifetime of involvement in amateur sport and the Olympic Movement in Canada and internationally. The contents are particularly valuable in documenting the activities of the Canadian Olympic Association (renamed Canadian Olympic Committee in 2002) and the evolution of sport across the country. The records contain detailed information on the planning and conduct of the Montreal (1976) and Calgary (1988) Olympics, as well as on several unsuccessful bids by Canadian cities to host various international sporting events. The records also deal extensively with the activities of the International Olympic Committee and document aspects of the internal workings of the IOC, its relationship with various national and international sporting organizations and its involvement in and influence upon many important international issues.
